DREAM STUDY GROUP

Attending to our dreams is a central way whereby we can enter into a relationship with the unconscious psyche which lives within each and every one of us.

Jung writes:

“Dreams are impartial, spontaneous products of the unconscious psyche, outside the control of will. They are pure nature; they show us the unvarnished, natural truth…” (CW10)

and

“…dreams never express themselves in (a) logical abstract way but always in the language of parable or simile.” (CW8)

I lead a weekly JUNGIAN DREAM STUDY GROUP in Toronto to learn how to appreciate the inspiring and perplexing language of dreams.

In each 2-hour session, selections from Jung’s writings on the nature and wisdom of dreams are read and explored. Then, dreams are looked at using Jung’s guidelines to reveal the possible personal, cultural and archetypal layers of meaning that their symbols hold. Participants may bring their own dreams to the sessions if they feel comfortable but this is not a necessary requirement for taking part in the group work.
